We are with Ion Energia and from our first few bills (only moved in in October) The standing charges seem to be just under €30 per month. Does this seem right ?

On the bill the consumption is obvious and quite low as we haven’t been there much, but the bulk of the bill is this other charge which I’m assuming is the standing charge and is titled ‘termino de potencia’ and listed under ‘concepto’ neither of which translates well 🙂

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Cheryl

In Spain you can choose the amount of incoming power and the higher the potential, the higher the cost.
We have 3 kw and pay €11.95 per month with our local Cooperative. This does mean we are limited to how much we can run at the same time but with a few trip outs we soon learnt we needed to adapt our usage so a lot goes on the timer overnight.

My potencia is 5.75 and I pay around €16 per month and also tax on the top of this. You also pay a small amount to hire the electricity meter from them.On top of this is the electricity that you use.

There is just 2 of us as well.We had the lower capacity of 3kw when we bought the house and everything kept tripping. Now we have up graded to 5.75kw no problems, but you do have to pay an electrician to do this and it's not cheap.
