We are about to purchase RHD car that has been put on Spanish plates
When we return permanent to the Uk I know how to revert back to original uk plates, but want to know if we would have to pay import just don't want to get a shock when we purchased a Spanish LHD car in Spain, cost us over 1000 euros to change of ownership and tax
Grateful for any info

Hi Norma, as it is now a Spanish car, I believe you will have to do exactly the same again when you import it back to the UK, with another payment of import tax due. I hope someone can say I am wrong.

If you contact the UK Customs and Excise I think that you will be pleasantly surprised. If I recall, quite some years ago, it cost me 50 GBP to reregister .

Hi, we brought an englush car over to Spain paid a fortune to put it on Spanish plates, when we took it back to England we just contacted DVLA , insured the car then paid 12 months tax and filled a form in. We luckily got our old number back so just put the old plate back on. Easy......

Just a thought, you will have to insure it in England but can only do it with the chassis number, that was theonly problem we found
