We are active early seventies currently living in Brittany in a house with more land than'we can cope with, so after fifteen years, now looking to relocate to,Spain which was was our original plan!

We will only'be able to buy at around the 100,000€ mark and want to be able to walk to something, anything at all as we are currently in a rather rural area.We also think we would need an expat community and although we are very happy in our own skin would like some activity and like minded folk to chat to. Hubby likes his motor bike (hes probably too old!) football golf and sport in general. I sew but would like a choir or a dance type thing.

So are we  being realistic, would we get a finca Near to amenotiez, bar coffee shop etc and not too far to drive for shopping? We promise to stay indoors when it's too Hot or back to the kids in UK who are encouraging this move! Thank you.

PS We have two nine year old dogs.

Wellwe have loved our time in France we live in Rural Brittany a simple good sized house with a lot of land that keeps us very busy. Our house is ideal for' B&B as we are on the European cycle route and walkers etc.

As we are ageing (dont get me wrong we are active and young at heart) we need something easier to care for, enjoy more warmth and easier access for our family to travel and visit.

Our pensions our reliant on the euro exchange rate and so the cheaper cost of living in Spain will be a benefit.

Spain v France is difficult as we haven't lived in Spain but certainly love our French life, you are young enough to enjoy France.

Villena is 500 m above sea level and you will notice every single metre once the sun goes down in winter. Saying that, you will  need a good heating system wherever you live as an open fire or wood burner won't stop the proverbials freezing in the bathroom. I've had a very brief sweep for less than 100K on Kyero and nothing but open fires to be seen.

Please note that most fincas which are legal have to have 10,000 square metres of land, about 3 acres, by law.  The further inland you go, and higher, the more extremes of temperature you will encounter also less in the way of amenities.    There are now many small village communities in Spain which have been completely abandoned due to the flight of people to the larger towns and cities.

We investigated France and found property to be cheap compared to Spain but the cost of living was quite a bit higher.

If you buy a small finca then be prepared to spend quite a lot of money on making improvements for a comfortable life and to comply with new building regulations.    Also be aware of the minefield that is the property market in Spain.

If you pass near Crevillent just give me a call and drop in for a chat.
