Do you mean the pool doesn't have any circulation?

Use shock chlorine, in the dosage stated on the tub, to kill off any nasties - just don't use the pool for a day or three until the chlorine level on a test is in acceptable levels.

I'd also use flocculante to get rid of any cloudiness. If you've got circulation, then use tablets, put them in the skimmer bucket, and leave the circ running overnight. If no circulation, then use liquid flucculante.

Any pool supplies place can provide both shock and flocculante.

I hope you're doing a weekly test of pH and chlorine, otherwise you're going to continue having problems.

There is no circulation in the pool we are living in rented house

I do not have a test kit, I will certainly get one

I will also go and buy what you have advised

Norma, I'm intrigued!

I agree with my good friend Jim that it needs shocking and clearing with flocculant, but I can't see how you will be able to mix either of the chemicals in properly without the water circulating. And without a filter, cloudiness and unsatisfactory water-balance are just going to come back and back.

In ten years in the swimming pool business, working full time all over the Costa Blanca, I never saw an in-ground pool with no circulation. Is there no provision for circulation - i.e. outlets at one end of the pool and/or on the bottom, and inlets at the other end. In other words, is there NO pipework at all connected to it?? Could there be a pump and filter tucked away, maybe under an inspection cover, or in a hidden cupboard somewhere?

I'm just fascinated as to how the owners of the property expect you to keep the pool water in good condition without filtering it. At this time of year the average pool filtration system is running 6 to 8 hours per day - more if there are a lot of bathers!
