This week I have found that my wallet containing all my cards has gone missing, I know not where.  I have not been out of the gate this week but I know when I last used a card and there are no spurious transactions showing since then, so I don't think it's been stolen.

The bank cards are the easiest to sort out but it also contained my SIP card, Spanish driving licence and TIE card.

I know nothing is easy in Spain but has anyone had to jump through the hoops to replace all these?

I know it won't be as simple as emailing DVLA and ordering a new one, but can anyone advise what the procedures might be?  The last thing I want to be doing is going right back to square one with all the applications.

Hi, I lost my SIP card, went to salud, they gave me a form. Had to go to my bank, pay 4 euros and a stamp and the salud was aknowleged and I could get a new one.

Hi Ron,

That sounds easy enough, thanks.  I'll have a go at that next week as I'll probably need it for when I get a jab.

Now for the others.

Have you tried looking the (un)usual places, down the side of the car seat, the side of the sofa cushions. I found a set of lost keys jammed under my car seat, more than a year after I lost them.

I have virtually torn the car apart, moved furniture, been through loads of clothes, even those I haven't warn for a while just in case it has got snagged on something.

Having just been shopping before I came home a week ago I have also been through all the cupboards, fridge and freezer. I am running out of places to look. I have even searched the garden between the car and the back door and the gate.

Fortunately there were no spurious transactions on the bank cards which leads me to think that it has not been lifted from my pocket, otherwise they would have done a load of shopping using the contactless knowing the cards would be stopped shortly.

Just an idea for the future, we copy all our important documents on the computer and file them. Just as easy on a phone

An important lesson for the future

Hi there,

Sorry to hear this - it happens to most of us from time to time and then the missing items turn up just when we don’t expect them to. I lost an important document because I’d plonked some linen on top of it then picked it all up together with the paperwork. I found it by chance in the drawer!

Get someone else to go through the house with you - a second pair of eyes often helps. Have you been to the last place you made a card transaction in case the wallet fell out of your pocket  there, as you were leaving?

Good luck with your search.

Janice

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yes, I did backtrack my movements and actually got to watch the CCTV footage of me paying, putting the wallet back into my pocket and driving away.  There was nothing on the floor.

I then drove straight home and did not go out for the next week.  My wallet, cash and keys always go in the same spot and I'm sure I would have noticed when I emptied my pockets if it was not there.   Believe you me the house and garden have been well and truly searched, many times.

It was not till I was out 6 days later and went to use a card that I found the wallet missing. Again, I returned to the shop and found nothing.  I can't remember anyone coming near me who could have lifted it as the place was nearly empty.

As no transactions had been made with the cards during last week It  makes it very hard to decide if I have lost it round here or the wallet was taken, the cash removed then put in a bin.   If it was taken they were damned good at it.

My logic dictates that if you nick a wallet you keep using the cards till they get stopped.  Contactless is perfect for that.

My wife had a purse stolen from her bag once, we found the purse soon after but only the cash had been taken.

Hi,

Maybe you should go to plice and tell that your card is stolen.

Than with the copy of the report you go to your bank and request a new one.
