Freeview is the UK TV service that uses TV aerial and TV masts. It is not available in Spain. The signals from the closest Freeview mast (in the channel islands) simply does not reach Spain). Connect a Freeview box to a TV aerial in Spain, and it may get the SPanish channels. So are you sure you want a Freeview box (I have been to many people who have bought a Freeview box expecting it to work in Spain for UK TV channels,. or via a satellite dish, when it is impossible to do so!)

If you want Spanish channels, then most TVs these days have a built in digital terrestrial tuner. If not then most TV stores, even carrefour, sell digital terrestrial boxes.

If you want UK TV channels via satellite, then you need either a Freesat box (150 free UK TV channels), a Sky box (free and pay channels), or a "free to air box" or a TV with built in satellite receiver (free channels only, but no 7 day programme guide or automatic channel updates like Sky and Freesat boxes have). The first two will not be available in Spanish shops, but from UKTV installers. The latter two will be available in Spanish shops.

Hi Carol,

as you,ve been told a freeview box doesn't work in Spain, you need a freesat box or a sky box. I would think freesat boxes could be available in Carrefour and even in Villena electrical shops, maybe Ferri,s, anywhere where they sell TVs. What a shame, I, ve got 2 freesat boxes and 2 freesats with hard drives in the house but not over there yet this year. We now take our sky boxes over and get all channels as per in Uk. Try Villena shops first. I, ll send you a catch up chat privately later. Good luck.

Regards

Pauline

Thank you. Meant freesat. I will check the shops you mentioned.

Much appreciated.
