Stand by for probably the most unusual post of the year so far.

Those with an interest in classic cars  might be able to help and I'm sure that someone out there might have worked on the older cars but can't do much over here.

I am looking to help a friend in the UK who is struggling a bit.  He has recently inherited a 1954 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire from his Dad and has access to another.  The situation is this.  His inherited car is in pretty poor shape body wise but has good mechanicals that have not worked in a while.

The second car has reasonable bodywork but someone has swapped out the original engine and gearbox for a Rover unit which is sacrilege. So the plan is to rebuild the two cars into one,  .Armstrong Siddeleys were an incredibly well built cars with a touch of class about them.  It would be a shame to loose both cars.  This is no small project.

What we are looking for is someone who would like a project that will not charge a fortune.  This wonderful person would ideally be in the Stoke on Trent/ Derby area.  If you have any possible contacts or suggestions please let me know.

I used to have a Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane that I rebuilt,  but unfortunately had to sell.  It had that wonderful Wilson pre-selector gearbox.  I did numerous rallies with it.

I can't help you but what a blast from the past. My dad had an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire in the 50s or 60s.

It looks on line they are not worth much?

It may be better to buy a road worthy one and use the others for spares?
