Hi, we need someone to  get our relatively new Daewoo fridge freezer going. It's been off for a while and now it comes on but won't refrigerate. We are in Las Virtudes.

Have you left it 24hrs for the gases to settle and reach operating temp?

Hi, thank you for your message. We turned it on and left it overnight and it was no different. It comes on, lights up, etc. Just doesn’t get cold. There’s a digital keypad to control it which has faded so it’s very difficult to read but nothing I’ve tried seems to affect it.

Probebly not enough refrigerant and leak somewhere if you can here the compressor

running. Not a big fix for someone with right tools and refrigerant what kind written on  the compressor mostly. I guessing  but if compressor ok 1 hour work should be enough .

Hi Frans, Thank you for this. That sounds encouraging - I just need to find somebody local who can do it now. David

Have you put any foods or liquids in the fridge to see if they are cooling?

Hi David,

I imagine I don’t live far from you so I’ll pass on what I can.

If your fridge is new, I suggest it is still under guarantee (usually a minimum of 2 years) and I would call the company to get a technician out. I did that recently.

I bought my appliance from E-ureka and the people there were very helpful about getting a technician out. They did recommend another person, reasonably local, should I be out of the guarantee period but I cannot find his phone number.

If you haven’t already resolved the situation, take a trip to E-ureka, ask for Fidel, tell him you are my friend/neighbour, and ask for the phone number of the guy he suggested to repair domestic appliances.

Please get back to me if you need any further information.

Good luck,

Janice

Hi Steve,

No - but it definitely wasn't getting cold.

Hi Janice,

Thank you so much for your email. We've found somebody to come and look at it now. It wasn't new. It was second-hand and it turns out it had been repaired before and is now un-repairable. I'm going to look at E-ureka now and see if I can get a new one delivered.

Thanks for the recommendation.

David

I can’t sing their praises high enough! I have bought virtually all my electrical appliances from E-ureka over the past three years and have found them helpful.

I did find TVs in Carrefour that were a bargain but couldn’t get served by anyone who could answer a few questions on them. The staff all seemed to be students.

The fact that you can take items back to them if they do not fit well or need to change them is a bonus. No hassle. I’m sure you will be pleased with your purchase.

Janice
