Can someone tell me how they insure their UK home after they have signed for residencia after being in Spain for 3mnths when they still have their UK home either for their own use(maybe not staying in Spain permanent) or perhaps when renting it out? As 1 question in obtaining UK home insurance and car too always asks are you a UK resident etc. Do you answer "yes" or declare "no" as you have a Spanish residencia, and if no can you still obtain UK insurance?Please no nasty remarks about "part time" residents, just need to know how to answer that question to ensure insurance is legitimate

Always be honest, insurance companies are businesses, if you answer incorrectly and claim you could end up facing fraud charges.

It may be that some companies won't cover you in these circumstances or impose special conditions. I suggest that you speak to your existing insurer as a first action.

Thanks Ray, I have used simply business in the past too and this website is perfect for answerring my query as I want to do it right or any claim could be refused if the info I disclose is incorrect. I really think Spain is mental demanding residencia applications from people who simply want long stay holidays as they should have applied a differrent process for "part timers" as you have referred to us in the past. I dont object to being a "legal" resident but permanent? can have other restrictions regarding UK living. I,m thinking of car insurance too if leaving a car behind in UK too for long periods, guess someone must insure UK cars even if you are a "spanish resident".

I think I have understood the Residente Comunitario and after 5yrs obtaining permanent residency, but didnt understand when asked for legal matters is a person who is on that register especially if residing in the UK for 183+ days a "UK resident or Spanish resident. After all if you get it wrong the insurance could be cancelled.

So Kim are you saying its pointless then applying for Residencia if it wont be relevant after Brexit. There are a lot of people doing just that before the date,so why bother?
