Hi everyone.
Just to let you know if anyone has an appointment for their nie numbers in Elda make sure you have your passport stamped with date of entry into Spain. My son and a large group of others have just been turned away by the police and told. No can do without proof. 😲

Thanks for reply. I am aware of the procedures as I have gone through the process. But my son went for his nie number at the police station today for his number and was told as were many others there. No stamp in your passport no nie or start of residency. It happened in Elda.

I’m guessing that as we have now moved beyond the “cut off” date, 31st March, they may well be viewing passports without entry stamps, as being “overstayers” 🤪🥂

It's hard to keep up with the ever changing rules. I for one have never had my passport stamped when entering Spain. And neither had the 10+ people that were turned away yesterday. What with Brexit and Covid will this nightmare ever end. 🙄

Unfortunately, as you say, difficult to keep up. My own experience, also reported by others, since the 1st January, as we are now TCN’s, passports are stamped on entry and exit to Spain. Certainly when flying. There does seem to be the odd post that suggests entries by sea and land might not be so rigorously monitored
The danger is, if your passport has not been stamped on entry, as travel was by land or sea, and you decide to return by air??? You run the risk of not being able to evidence that you have not exceeded 90 days.
Not wishing to pile Pelion on Ossa, he may experience some difficulties when he leaves Spain 🤪🥂
