Yes Ray is correct. Thursday morning at the bottom of Villena town centre by the railway lines. As it is so difficult to find a parking space we park in the Dia supermarket carpark, just before the track coming from the Yecla road. Then go accross track and walk to the left until you come to it. Btw the meat and veg is inside a building at the back if the market no fruit and veg outside. If you fancy Caudete has a market on Friday morning, I prefer it to Villena, as all the fruit and veg stalls line up along both sides of the road and there is far more choice than Villena has.

Regards

Pauline.

Thank you, it's good to have another option.  Is the indoor fruit & veg part open other days as well?  Thanks for the tip about parking as well.

The indoor market is very disappointing, only 30% of stalls are in use on a market day, I,ve never been on other days but I,d say open but a lot less stalls would be there. In Caudete at least there are approx 20 differrent fruit and veg stalls, in Villena there's maybe 8 at most. Its a shame big building, 1 health product stall, couple of fish, olives and ham stall and rest for veg and theres a cafe in the back. I dont even go there now as the outside stalls are same as every other market, clothes, shoes bags etc and Caudete has same sellers but added fruit and veg. Yecla is supposed to have a good market too but in 13years we,ve never been. We are halfway between Villena and Caudete, 5kms from each, about 25kms from Yecla. Actually only been there once. We eat every Sunday afternoon in the Chinese in Sax after being at the rastro in Salinas which we love to go every Sunday, but we only know that main road, again never visited Sax town any other day.

Regards

Pauline.

Hi it’s a weekly market on a Thursday. Also a very good indoor market on the same site. Just bigger and better on a Friday and Saturday 😎

Anne

I,m surprised you say bigger and better on Friday and Saturday, as I left some paperwork at the cafe in the inside market and returned on the Friday when there were only 3 stalls manned inside and no outside of course. That was only late last year so hardly anyone around. Luckily they had my bag of paperwork. Phew! All bank stuff and our deeds

Regards

Pauline.

Went to the market outside then inside for the first time since last year on Thursday last week, it was really busy. Loads of the stalls open including the fish ones which normally only open on a Friday  and Saturday. So maybe things have changed. Fingers crossed
