NW UK to Villamartin in 28hrs. Non stop eurotunnel. West Coast of France and then via Pamplona.
Share the driving with the wife have a couple of hrs sleep in an Aire near Bidart.
Leave 6.30 am arrive at VM 10.30 am next day.
We've got two big dogs so stop every 3 hrs for us all to have a stretch.
Tolls all the way to get there quicker.

Hi just one thing to add Pete’s good advice....if you do decide to drive and go across France (we’ve done it for past 11 years so we could bring the dog) do the drive through France on a Sunday,as there are restrictions on HGV lorries on Sunday’s and it makes a huge difference to how busy the roads are. There will be some HGV’s ie those that carry perishable goods. Enjoy the drive!

hi Portsmouth to Santander ferry cuts a long drive threw France . Regards pa
"You have two main choices"
Three actually because you can go Portsmouth to Caen or Le Harve which are overnighters but crucially bypass both Paris and Rouen both of which can be living hells if you hit them at the wrong time of day.
Barring 'black days' (French principal holiday weekends when it seems like the entire population of Northern France tries to drive South at the same time) then even on weekdays French autoroutes are a joy to drive on and at their very worst I would liken to any UK motorway at it's very best. Lane discipline is exemplary (outside lane hoggers are nearly always Brits !) and you'll usually make far better time on a two lane French autoroute than you'd dream of making on any 3, 4, 5 or even 6 lane UK motorway.
Ease your way through the toll booths with a telepeage tag which you can get even in UK, in a RHD car I would class them as indispensible. Many lanes are now non stop and you cruise straight through at 30kph and there are a few 60kph ones appearing now too.
Because I have a French bank A/C I can (and do) have one tag which works seamlessly in both France and Spain but without that you would need two separate ones which probably isn't worth the hassle.
Poullution or 'Crit-Air' stickers you do not need unless you plan to drive into the centres of major cities, for the autoroute they are completely unnecessary.
Breathalysers are a total farce and only the French could come up with a law which said that you had to carry one (yes that's one NOT two) yet imposed no penalty whatsoever for not. The ferry companies continue to make a tidy profit out of scaring uninformed drivers into buying them.
