Now that the uk has changed all of the rules we travel on 1st October to xativa for 2 weeks I have to finish the Spanish locator form 48 hours before we leave and I have bought tests for 2 days after we arrive back in the uk am I correct in saying that’s all we need to do now to travel?

Hi Amanda,

The changes to travel rules are effective from 4am on Monday, 4 October.  In any event, there are no changes to the rules for entering Spain - so long as you are double-vaccinated, you do not need a test to enter Spain, as you say, you just need to complete the Spanish Health Form within 48 hours of your departure from the UK and bring proof of being double-vaccinated.

As you'll be returning to the UK after 4 October and assuming, again, that you're double-vaccinated, you no longer need to take a pre-departure test in Spain.  Also, the Day 2 test, which you need to pre-purchase and put the reference number of your Passenger Locator Form, no longer needs to be the more expensive PCR test, a lateral flow/antigen test will be sufficient.

Kind regards,

Kim

Kimmy it’s my understanding that the cheaper antigen test doesn’t replace the need for the day 2 PCR test until the end of October

  • simpler, cheaper rules for fully vaccinated travellers coming from non-red list countries – fully vaccinated passengers will be able to replace day 2 PCR tests with cheaper lateral flow tests – from the end of October – and no longer need to take pre-departure tests (PDTs)

Hi Anne,

You're correct, sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself.  Amanda said she was here for 2 weeks, but we don't know the precise date yet that the UK government will change the Day 2 PCR to only a Lateral flow/Antigen test, so Amanda will still need a Day 2 PCR test to return to the UK mid October.

Kind regards,

Kim
