Personal recommendation and that of many others too. If it can be sorted out, they will do it.

The general advice here is NOT to buy a Spanish reg car in the UK because change of ownership is not as simple as sending off a bit of paper to DVLA and the car could have incurred fines and non payment of road tax which will be the new owner's responsibility.

I would strongly suggest you NOT drive the car until you get this sorted, as it's not registered to you and you have no permission from the registerd owner to be driving it if you got stopped you could be accused of stealing it, be arrested, and have the car confiscated.

What insurance have you got for it?

You can get some history from Carfax.es not sure how much though.

I echo the advice to contact Spanish-Number-Plates, they have dealt with these situations before so whilst little consolation you're far from the first to suckerd into buying such a car!

Thanks guys we have car insurance on it and it has a ITV as soon as we found out she had fines and society security owing on it as well as the embargo we have put it in the garage and have not been out in it. Just need to sort out what's owed and pay it so we can drive it again, then we'll take the garage in England to court

I'd certainly contact the garage to let them know the problems you've encountered and suggest they might like to contribute towards your out of pocket expanses but as for taking them to court, mmmm.

Have you got irrefutable proof that they told you it was fully legit and ready to go?

With respect there is another side to the situation that being your own lack of research and knowledge of what was required when buying such a car and the potential pitfalls so the outcome of a case would far from guaranteed.

Get it sorted out and move on.
