Hi, I am moving from Ireland to the Altea area in September 2024 with my wife and young daughter. We are in our late 30s. She is a Spanish and French teacher to A-level (18year olds) and hopes to transfer these skills. Employment in a local school and she will also be setting up a tutoring school for locals.  

 I will be looking for a job in real estate management and or property refurbishment/construction. I also have experience in security. Can any one point me in the direction of anyone / company who be be employing? Thanks D

Does anyone now were in Altea or near by were you can shred important documents 

We haven't had our house villa long and have some pre-existing service companies for Pool and Garden.

I wonder if anyone feels it sensible to have a 'family' or person to look after or mange to look after everything, including occasional cleaning.

I suppose 'trust is the problem, as we would like to be able to communicate from the UK, now and again, ensuring thisngs at the villa or good and hearing if they are not. We have a very extensive security system so that may help but has anyone tried anything similar-and is it likely to work. We are thinking about this as we have already experienced some 'issues' between the Pool Company, the Gardener and our Electrician-who we are likely to need more of!

Any comments or advice would be very welcome. Just feel we'd like quite a personal, friendly service I we've been told we can't rely on 2 of our existing service providers as they are constantly looking for us to spend more and scare mongering about what we need to have done. Is this usual?

I will be in Altea from 9 March for 27 days and am looking for a basic bike to get around on.  Anyone have one to sell?

I really hope some of you out there can help me as I am at my wits end. My husband is 66 years old and even though hes getting UK pension his S1 hasnt arrived as we have been told more info needs to be given{which I have given) Im eu citizen and my residency is coming up soon but as he hasnt an S1 we need to take out private health insurance,it has to have NO EXCESS on it and it has to be paid upfront for 1 year.

Mapfre had given us a quote but because of his age they say there is no alternative and excess needs to be paid which we have no problem with but our lawyer says it wont do. can any of you please give me some help about what to do. (I am 11 years younger than my husband too)
