Does anyone use a free real time phone tracker app?

Now that my OH and I are getting older (and senile- so im told occasionally)we would like to be able to track each others journeys occasionally for safety reasons and security.  As its only happens infrequently we don't want an all singing, all dancing pay monthly subscription service just a bog standard real time tracker service. 

Anybody use a service they can recommend?
