I realise this is highly unlikely, but is anyone out there an expert domestic machine engineer please. I have a Bernina overlocker which overnight has decided to refuse to function on a particular setting. Have done all the obvious things and am fast running out of ideas and patience. There is no agency in our area of any description of whom I could ask advice. Should you exist, I’d be grateful if you would pm me then will explain in detail.

We are travelling to Uganda in early summer and wondered if anyone could help. We are going to visit ‘The Little Angels Orphanage’ in Kabali as we sponsor a child and her family there. Anyone any idea where this may be bought? I have just been laughed out of Mercadona and Consum, together with no knowledge in Iceland!

I want it for an Italian cake recipe and have no intention of travelling to a little known deli in the back streets of a village in Umbria!

Failing this, any good bakers tell me if cornstarch/ground almonds/rice flour may be substituted without noticeably impinging on the result?

Any ideas anyone, please. It has recently become impossible for us to lift my mother bodily into a vehicle to take her to, for example, dental appointments and similar as she can no longer stand nor take a few steps. Our last journey was fraught, and it is too dangerous now to attempt to get her in or out of the car, it was disastrous.

The obvious solution is to hire an adapted taxi with wheelchair kit/ ramp etc. I have looked in vain and made the obvious phone calls, but in small rural areas or even slightly larger coastal towns, these facilities are not available, apparently confined to large cities. Is it possible to hire such a vehicle ourselves from vehicle hire companies for perhaps a morning? Or do independent qualified strong male Auxiliares exist, who are trained in handling patients of reduced mobility? 

I realise I’m clutching at straws here, but am running out of ideas. Thanks in advance  for any useful information.

Anyone recommend a decent bar or restaurant between Alicante airport and, say, Villajoyosa, open Sunday’s. Collecting friends from airport around 12.30 ish and we live quite a long way from there, Northern costa Blanca. They would like to stop enroute  to eat something. But, we don’t want to have to drive around towns, find car parking and then walk a distance. Would prefer going on the old road rather than motorway. Any suggestions gratefully received.
