Daily Express article

This is the first time I have seen a report of someone detained by Border Control when over the 90/180 limit.

The report appears in the Daily Express, so bear in mind the slant it would take. There are also a couple of questions around "Sonia's" account, but if the basic facts of the story are correct then it would appear that Border Control is checking.

Seems like Sonia has a beef with the authorities because “nobody had told her” about the 90/180 ruling?!

My uncle has just returned from Benidorm and he knows someone who overstayed by 3 days and was fined £4000!

Wow,that would bring tears to your eyes!No disrespect but how reliable is your Uncles information?Reason I ask that is a lot of reports are third hand.My own report was good friends of mine(who I believe)have good friends and they overstayed 2 weeks with €180 fine each in France. My own take is that the wheels are turning albeit slowly.

Personally think this is a work of fiction ,designed to sell a few more papers ,circulation on all papers has dropped drastically in the last 10 years ,Just think.though if it was.true it would make.some.ex Brits on here very happy indeed

It was third hand, but he did say they wanted to have a few more days enjoying the good weather. Not worth the risk...
