Hi I live in a urbanisation in the rincon de loix area of Benidorm and I am mystified about my electric bill which is monthly, through Iberdrola I have just received a bill for feb /March which is 51.00€ now I was only her for 10 days and was out of the apartment most of the days when we go home we only leave the fridge freezer on and all other appliances are switched off , I don’t know how they read a meter because they are somewhere in the building and I think it’s read electronically ,the €\kw a day is 0.137326 is this too expensive ? As a retired couple we never leave lights on or waste energy but it just seems over the top Price wise any suggestions on cheaper suppliers would be appreci

I'd guess you're on the wrong contract, as the current price for capacity is 0.12329, although I'm paying 0.117146. You can't avoid the standing charge, whoever the company is.
Thanks Jim , I’m not so much concerned about the kw charge it’s how they are assessing the amount if electricity I’m supposedly using , we go out around 11am most days and go to other ares of Benidorm and get back around 8pm and we are frugal with having too many lights on etc and are still getting a large bill more here than at home so we will probably shop around for a better deal but thanks again jim.
Hi Eddie,
Without seeing further detailed breakdown of your electricity bill it is difficult to accurately answer your question. At a rough guess I could assume you are on a high potencia contract , I.e. standing charge. If on this level of tarrif ,you leave your fridge freezer on when you are away your base monthly bill could be approx 35 euros ,that would ,for your present Feb/ March bill, leave for 10 days Electricity usage, approximately 1.5 euros per day ., equating to roughly 8kw to 10kw per day , and a bill around 51 euros

8 to 10kWh per day still still seems an awful lot for someone who says that they are out most of the time and are careful to turn off unused devices.
It's roughly what we consume on average and we are in far more than we are out and make very little conscious effort to economise.
Need to see the bill!

Movington,
I think th O.P was referring to a specific month of billing and possibly with that month being Feb/ March , then some heating may well have been used , over and above the norm for other months.
As I did say in my first post ,it is difficult to comment without more detail of the bill.
LeckyLes.
It’s what I’m being charged Ray nearly 50€ a month and we are hardly in the ap
I’m over for 8weeks at end of may and I’ll try and sort it out then
No it was 50€ for one calendar month

I still think you're on the wrong contract. As you're on monthly billing, then you've got a smart meter, which is read remotely, and the bills will reflect actual usage.
As Les said, check what the contracted power supply is. Also check if you're being charged for extras like breakdown insurance, and check what tariff you're on.
If you post an image of the part of a bill showing the breakdown of the charges then this would be a big help.
