My husband and I plan to move permanently to Los Montesinos after Christmas having just bought an apartment there.  We are full time British workers and can come on the new 3 year digital nomad working visa but just wondering if anyone else has done it yet and how they found the process.

Step by step process here, in English, on the Spanish government website.

Hi Jenni

My husband and l started the process with our solicitor last year July when she put it in on our behalf so we thought after we spent money on everything we needed to apply for from the UK. We paid £110 for ACRO checks and £220 for for 3 documents for Apostil, another €2700 for private health care, solicitor fee was €1200 but we kept asking her for updates and just last month she told us the Authority claimed that she submitted our documents late which she said she didn’t

You would have thought as a lawyer she should have appealed but then asked us to get another ACRO and Apostil from the UK which is a lengthy process for us so we have decided to leave it and wait until my husband retires next year to do the other one so it’s money gone down the drain

We now have another lawyer who is very good on things like this and very knowledgeable

You need a very good lawyer who knows what they are doing

Good luck

Ire

First step was the NIE number relatively painless, you do have to prove the company you work for requires remote working.

Thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately we’ve had to postpone this at the moment due to my husband being ill  but will reconsider later in the year.

When we purchased  our property we used Sun Lawyers who were excellent and were going to use them again for this process.  I can recommend them.
