Car Insurance

I use linea directa now for all my car & motorbike insurances, I have tried other companies but they can never beat the price & cover offered by linea directa.

"If you wish to cancel your car insurance at the end of your current term, you must notify your insurance company in writing by registered letter. You are usually required to give two months’ notice. You may cancel your insurance before the term has expired if the premium is increased, the terms are altered, or if your car has been declared a write-off or stolen. If you cancel your valid policy, the insurance company isn’t required to give you a refund."

In other words you've missed the boat and have no option but to renew with your existing insurer. 

Hello, the legal term of cancellation in Spain, according to the law of the insurance contract art. 22.2 dated January 1st 2016, is ONE month before the expiration of the policy for the policyholder, while for the Insurers it has not changed and it is still two months to communicate if they would terminate the policy.

The legal forms accepted are by burofax (from any post office) or by registered postal letter, keeping the received slip or invoice as "reliable proof". Attaching a copy of the passport or ID to contrast the signatures is usually advisable too, but not an obligation. Some companies also accept by phone, in any case  it is advisable to delete the direct debit at the bank if this means of payment had been chosen.

Many of the companies usually accept the letter in English, however we leave a draft of cancellation letter in Spanish, in case it can be useful:

Compañía de seguros (name of the company)...........

Dirección Compañía (company's address, use to be shown on the policy document).......

Ref.: Nº Póliza (policy number): ...........

En ....Torrevieja... a ......27/04/20.......  (place and date, example)

Muy Sres. míos:

Por la presente, les comunico mi deseo de no prorrogar la póliza de referencia correspondiente al vehículo matrícula (registration nº)........., que tiene fecha de vencimiento el día (renewal date).........., cumpliendo para ello el plazo de preaviso de un mes acorde al Art. 22.2 de la Ley de Contrato del Seguro. 

Les ruego que me confirmen la tramitación de mi petición.

Hello Gran Alicante Insurance, 

This is very nice of you to let me know these information, this is very much appreciated...I will act tomorrow as my insurance is with my bank and they will increase it...like they alway do..so i will change it...the other car is for sale but i took the insurance in Late June beg July, so i will cancel tomorrow..
