ITV
My daughter and I arrive in spain on Sunday July 11th. Unable to get there sooner as my daughter is a teacher and only breaks up on July 9th. The ITV on my car expires on June 30th. A friend is collecting us from the airport in his car. In the past he has taken my car for its ITV. Last November I managed to get to spain between lockdowns and he took my car to be tested….it passed but the certificate was backdated to June. That was ok.
I asked him if he could arrange to take it on the day after our arrival. He has told me that it is is no longer possible following Brexit for him to take my car as the ITV will be 12 days out of date and he will face a fine of 250 euros. I seems that driving to the ITV station for the test is illegal.
I am sure that many other non resident home owners in Spain will face this dilemma of their Spanish registered cars having an out of date ITV bearing in mind Spain only opened its borders to U.K. visitors 4 weeks ago. is this information correct ????
