Watch out! For heirs trying to close Spanish accounts it is chaos, even with Sabadell bank and Wise online merchant bank.

English courts are also problematic, even with official translations.

Heirs have to go through many frustratingly relaxed Spanish business culture hurdles.
It often takes 2 or more years to get Spanish bank account closed, and that includes using an English speaking Spanish lawyer, and all documents having The Hague Apostille stamped seal and tons of legal documents and translation fees.

Not something our OP is concerned about, but in response to your comment, as soon as a person dies the bank account is immediately frozen. As soon as the will is produced to the bank along with probate documentation if necessary, the heir can receive the funds in the account. The handful of people I know who have been in this situation have not had any problems at all. All sorted within a couple of months certainly not years.

Despite producing all the probate documents Sabadell (Calpe) and Wise did not take any action to freeze accounts.

Bank directors 'conviently' vanished.

Lost fortunes.
