Hi everyone

Having recently bought a holiday home in Villamartin, we’re looking forward to coming out for a month at a time a few times a year, as we’re retired, but fit and active

We love walking and can’t wait to explore the surrounding areas. It would be lovely to do some walking directly from our property, but we will have a car and can’t wait to explore some of the coastal paths.

I’m not talking about climbing mountains etc, 😂 just decent length (4 to 6 miles ish)

Any suggestions greatly received as we are completely new to this wonderful area! Cheers everyone!

The canal through Villamartin is a lovely walk. All on one level and it goes on for miles so you can just go as far as you want 😀

Thanks that’s great to know. We did spot the canal on our property search, but we weren’t sure where it went and how far.

Try the coastal path from Aguamarina (Cabo Roig) to Punta Prima. Nice walk with lovely views and a couple of good watering holes/eateries along the way!

Oh that’s excellent thanks, like the sound of the eateries en route too!

Try joining a local walking group - very good for new and different walks and good way of meeting new people too. The Torrevieja Walking Groups (Meet Up) arranges walks around Orihuela Costa and beyond to suit all levels.

Thanks that’s a great idea. Do you know how we’d go about contacting them for details please?

When I've been to visit family on Villamartin estates it's enough for me just walking round the local streets. All hilly.....

Thanks Steve, I’ll certainly be including walking around Villamartin as we need to familiarise ourselves with the area as we only know the basics! Canal walk sounds good too! Plus coast not far away.

Here is the link to the group - you apply to join ( free) then you can access the walk schedule and ask to join the ones you fancy. Because of COVID-19 the group sizes are restricted at the moment. We always do a few of these walks when we are in Spain
