Would really appreciate if anyone can tell me how to get to Valencia by train and where the station is near me? I understand I'll have to drive there...

The closest is Gandia.
Many people drive to Xeraco and take the train from there as the parking is free.
And once you arrive at Valencia Nord station, you will have to get to Joaquín Sorolla station (800m/10min walk) for your Madrid train. There is a free shuttle bus (between the two stations) that runs every 15 mins or so.
