Hello,

We are looking to buy in Algayat near La Romana but the property has no main water. Can anyone advise the following?

How easy is it to get the water deposit filled up?

How can I find out if its possible or not to get mains connected?

Does anyone think its an issue that there is mains water, any view will be welcomed?

Thanks,

Paul

Is the property entitled to agricultural water? We are not on mains and we have our water delivered down open channels from the reservoir and it costs €30 per hour and for that we use 10-15 minutes to fill our water store, 5-10 minutes to top up the pool and the rest floods our orchard. In the winter when there is a bit more rain we can make do with 30 minutes and some months we have none at all. We do have filters for the supply to the house ( one 5 micron and a charcoal filter ) and we use it for everything but drinking water.
The water is diverted to different areas by lifting and dropping concrete slats. If you have to rely on tanker delivery then the cost increases, it was a while ago now when we did it this way and I think it cost about €60 but this only part filled the water store, nothing else.
There have been posts saying that agricultural water costs more in chemicals for the swimming pool but we've just had our water and took a sample to be tested and we just need to lower the chlorine level by taking out the chlorine tablet dispenser for a few days.

 Hi Paul

the chanel system is not used here now (La Romana ). There is a couple of companies with water tankers to fill your deposito. They bring approx. 10,000 ltrs.Costs about 70-90 euros

I dont have their names contact nos at present but PM later and ill try to find out.

2 years ago i had water connected. It is not Reiga (agricultural ) water. This water is cleaner than Reiga but not Drinkable. There is a water office in La Romana where you can apply but it will probably cost over 500 euros and plumbing costs, but worth it

My Estate agent Lydia from Carousel homes arranged my connection
