We have recently viewed some properties in Jacarilla, and are thinking about the possibility of buying as a holiday home. This is the first time visiting, and would be greatful of anything you could tell about the area. Public transport, things to do etc. Many thanks. Ian

When we viewed there seemed to be quite a few for sale in the same area. We were told one we viewed had not been lived in for 2 years. Do properties take a long while to sell? or is it just that there are those all at the same time?

We live a mile down the road in bigastro,  jacarilla is quiet but has everything you need, shops, doctor  pharmacy,  school  hospital, public swimming pool, even a small hospital.   We love going there; only reason we didn't buy there is because couldn't find what suited us.   Properties being empty and on market for long time is normal for Spain.   The housing market is not like UK at all so do not buy thinking you will have a property that will increase in value and be able to sell quick. Better to rent first,  find your feet, get to know what you want and then buy (or you risk being stuck in a property that is difficult to sell - see above).   That was the best piece of repeated advice we received when we were looking to come out here.  Not sure about the buses that pass through jacarilla but the service is excellent for bigastro.

Many thanks Colin. The info is very helpful. The property would be a holiday home for us at first, so info gives us an idea what to do.
