€1,250

2003 Vauhall Astra 1.6 convertible in metallic silver with a black electric hood and black/grey interior. Originally registered in the UK, right-hand drive and only two lady owners from new. Transferred to fully legal Spanish registration/plates in 2015. Only 98,400 miles from new (average of just over 6,000 miles per year). ITV and tax until 2020, superb tyres all round (incl spare), fabulous head turning convertible that is a joy to drive. Buyer pays for transfer of ownership.

The car does have some bumper scrapes and I am happy to send pictures. The drivers seat has one 4" square area of wear on a side panel. The radio code has been entered too many times so probably needs a replacement unit (can be found on ebay for 30-40€).

We are 3 old age pensioners with 3 cars and only ever use one or two cars at a time. I have described the faults with the car that are mainly body damage (see pictures) and we have paid for a new ITV (12 March 2020), new road tax (2020), very recent new battery. The extra space on our drive would make life easier.

The engine is a 1.6 petrol and the timing belt was changed about 5 years ago at 72,000 miles. The car drives really well and the clutch and gearbox seem fine to me. This is my wife's car so I am not a regular driver but when I do take it out it is a joy to drive.

Hi and thanks for your message. I think that first you need to see and drive the car and once you are happy, comes the paperwork.

Car ownership needs to be legally transferred in Spain and is often/usually attended to by a gestor/accountant or lawyer. There is a charge for this that is paid by the purchaser and is based on the fiscal value of the vehicle. I cannot tell you exactly what the cost would be but perhaps you could use the advertised details and the registration number to obtain an accurate price (I imagine around 200€) but could be +/-).

Then there is the insurance. The Astra is currently insured with Liberty Seguros and this may be transferred. When the sale/purchase is agreed we, collectively, contact the broker and advise the change of ownership. The buyers details including insurance payments are substituted for our payment plan or you may change to your preferred insurance company and cover.

Some weeks later you will receive the revised ownership documents and in future you will need to obtain the anual ITV and pay the road tax (this may be achieved by direct debit from your bank).

It sounds like a lot of work but once ownership is transferred the rest is easy.

Cheers!

I should have mentioned that you will need a NIE number and a valid passport to proceed withe transfer of ownership.
