The Spanish do not recognise Boxing Day so it is a normal working day.

Hi if you click on the menu button in top left hand corner you will see other La Mata posts.  There are just a select few of us on here. We bought last March and  are holiday visitors too but get out here as often as we can.

The Wednesday market near the square is well worth a visit

Hi magpiemother, thanks for your post. We did go to the market Boxing Day , it made a change to spend Christmas holidays in another country as we recently bought a holiday apartment here. We actually expected Xmas and new year here to be really lively, but  we went out last night and the place was deserted apart from one full restaurant, we ended up coming back to the apartment and having a cheese and tomato roll and a glass of wine as a new year celebration lol. Next year ( well this year 2019 lol ) we’ll only fly out for long weekend breaks etc when it’s hot enough to swim and stick to the uk for New Years celebrations 🎉 there are other La Mata posts on this site as I’ve found them to be helpful when I needed tv connection information and there is a very detailed one somewhere on here about local buses . Happy holidays and a happy new year to you 🍾🎉

We should meet for coffee or whatever when we are out together.   I’m back  12 - 17 January, 23 - 28 February (hope to catch the tail end of the Torreviega carnival) and 13 - 24 April (Easter).
