The Emergency Services (those working during the festive season) used to hold a lottery on which city/town had the most chip-pan-fires on Xmas day. 

It was usually Barnsley or Liverpool.

They have a great Scottish entertainer playing the bagpipes, Maris Piper I think his name is.
