What is IMP % on my restaurant bill?

what is IMP % on my restaurant bill.....is it compulsory...a government tax....or just the restaurant tip.   Not happy at being made to pay a tip if it's the latter.   Thanks

Without seeing the bill, I'd guess that IMP stands for 'impuesto', which is tax.

If the amount is 8%, then it's definitely tax.

Restaurants menus usually say 'IVA incluido' or 'IVA no incluido' - VAT included or not included in the prices shown.
