It is a difficult process to gain Spanish citizenship so in my opinion it's just not necessary or worth the effort.

When I retired to live here in Benidorm i wanted my home to be permanently in Spain so I didn't want the hassle of having to think about property in the UK and all that entails.

I came here to enjoy Spain and all it has to offer and concentrate on my new life....I've never looked back....

I fully agree with tebo53. After living permanently in Spain for over 55 years I never even thought of giving up so many principles incompatible with "southern" philosophy. Advantages? So far I don't know any.

Taking Spanish citizenship has many rules & regulations, particularly financial requirements - if you’re not aware of what’s required have a search on this forum as there are many useful and informative posts

Hello

To add to the other posters good advice, you have to live here for 10years as a resident before you can apply for citizenship.

Here's a link that explains all....
