It is mosquito season here in Santa Pola, so I thought I would share my latest poem in honor of it.  I hope you enjoy it.  Please feel free to share it, and I'd love to hear if you like it.

Homicidal Glee

I feel a homicidal glee
At killings I cannot see
But the zaps I hear
Are music to my ear
Mosquitos buzzing around
With that annoying sound
Drawn by the enticing light
Hiding the electric might
Of the killing zone.
Oh, I love that tone
That wonderful sound
Resonating around.
Now some do sizzle
But many just fizzle
Still dead is dead
As has been said.
I’m particularly fond
Of the electric wand
As I wave it through the air
It hardly seems fair
That so may of these mites
Will no longer be giving bites,
But there is a definite thrill
Of going for the kill
But no matter how hard I try
And how many of them die
More come to take their place
Invading my private space.
I’m not so very sure
That I can win this war
But I sure am trying
To expedite the frying.

Hi Michael,

That made me smile, especially when I read of your satisfaction with the "electric wand" - I feel exactly the same when I use it on flies!

Kind regards,

Kim

An ode to my constant battle. I used to holiday for years on the CdS until I made the permanent move here, and they were never a problem. Now I employ an army of repellents and electronic zappers in the good fight. My paddle type portable being my ultimate weapon of mass destruction. The visceral joy when I hear the crackle of a capture is so much more satisfying than just emptying the trays of the static UV appliances dotted around the house.

Hi ho, Gerry J. Would like to keep you in mind as a consultant and master mosquito Hunter!  It semestre that you and Michael are made from a simular cloth.  Cheers to you both. Elvira

Muy bien, me gusta. Thankyou for posting.

What animal kills more people than any other creature... mosquito.

I zapped one the other day, it had taken so much blood from me that it was slow and low in flight, so I got my revenge.

What are these zapping wands people are refering to.

The Zapping Wand is like a small squash/tennis racquet that holds a charge.  You press the button and swipe it through the air and it electrocutes anything in its path; you'll see and hear the spark.  It's a lot of fun! You can find them at pretty much any Chinese Market.
