Hola all,

We’re hoping to buy in Tormos later or early next year, would love any info re crime in the area, if any !

We do know the village from visits few years back but decided we loved it’s peace & friendliness.

What are winters like , wanting to spend winters there and back & forth in summer , does it get very cold ?

If we have a pool can anyone recommend a reliable experienced vetted person who’d be able to look after it for us ?

Any info that anyone feels useful to new possible residents would be very much welcome .

Thanks so much Vernon68

Hello Vernon, yes, it gets very cold here in winter. Not as cold as UK, and much shorter and the sun still shines most days but you will find many comments on here about the shock of a Spanish winter when unprepared. Most houses are built to keep out the summer sun, end of. Houses are usually single skin with very little insulation, minimal electrical sockets, open fires and problems with damp, so imagine camping out in your detached garage in darkest January. You also need to think about gas, electric, water, t.v. and internet contracts.
Check out "Jim´s guides to" on this site for lots of brilliant info on specific subjects such as NIE.

Also "Tormos" translates to torment, storm or rages, and I would want to look into that personally, with mountains at the back and the Girona river basin, there was some flooding a few years back but I´m new to Costa Blanca south so hopefully others on here will have more local info on that.

Life can be so beautiful here but you need to get it right for you. All the best.

Thanks for info, thought Tormenta meant storms? Haven’t heard of flooding there, apart from house we nearly bought few years back but that was caused numerous times from mains water outside front door 😱 funny how Agent never revealed that🙄

Not an old traditional house we’re looking at , but realise built for cool in summer , guess oil C/H or a good open fire , we have a 400 yr old cottage , cool in summer, cold in winter , can’t win can we😅

At least not as freezing as Hampshire in Winter!

Quick comment: property inland is VERY hard to resell. People who bought an inland village house or similar in 2005 or before have taken monumental losses. Thus you can probably drive a hard bargain when you buy .. there won't be many competitors.

Is that the case all inland , Tormos included, looking at what’s been on for ages & the prices I’m not surprised nothing selling , seems Brits etc have taken up Spanish attitude to selling, no sell unless price advertised! Can’t afgord to top up someone’s pension !🤪🤪

We´re from Hampshire as well! If you have experience of an open fire, you will already know about the mess, smoke and need for storage of fuel and the disadvantage of it only really heating one room. Lovely to look at but not as the only source of heating. Maybe consider bottled gas central heating or hot/cold air conditioning as well. I used deepL to translate, so may be wrong but in the same basic area.

As you have already learnt, never believe the estate agent or use their recommended solicitor.

Happy searching.
