Are there any TV channels that would help me learn Spanish?

I can't seem to find any but maybe I am looking in the wrong place?

UTube has actual Spanish tuition programmes. If you follow RayD's excellent post and get Spanish TV channels installed as we did, you'll find it's a big help in learning the language by using the Spanish subtitles.

The quiz shows in particular are very useful - like Pasapalabra, Boom and something Caigo where people actually fall through a trapdoor when they give wrong answers (strange Spanish mentality!).

You should also note that the main terrestrial Spanish TV channels show a lot of feature films from USA, UK and other countries, often very recent ones. These are invariably dubbed into Spanish, but on my TV (and I assume it's fairly common) you can select the original soundtrack instead. So you can watch an American or British film with the English soundtrack, then add Spanish subtitles if you want, to help you learn the language.

YouTube and watching Spanish TV is a good way to learn Spanish but when you have got the basics it is good to mix with the local people and start speaking and then you will learn very fast. I was lucky to employ a Spanish guy that wanted to learn English so we helped each other in language .

These are the TV stations that may help with learning Spanish. News Programmes, and there are a lot, they talk incredibly fast. The Quiz programmes can be quite good TVE 1, TVE 2, Telecinco, Antena 3, Cuatro, La Sexta. Avoid TV3 (Catalan). Some of the regional TV Stations may broadcast in the local dialect.

You can watch a number of films and TV programs on Netflix in Spanish with English subtitles, or in English with Spanish subtitles, or any combination you like. Good to watch a familiar British program in Spanish with Spanish subtitles.
