Hi myself and my partner and 9yr old daughter are seriously considering moving abroad and have been for quite a while now still undecided about torrevieja or Tenerife so would like so info on the pros of Torre please i.e. schools jobs and best places to be looking we are going to rent for the the 1st 12months to make sure this is the right descion for all of us.
Hi I can't tell you about schools but mainland Spain is a lot cheaper to live also you would find if you went inland a little 10K like Quesada area cost of living is also slightly less.

Hi Cazzy - most of your queries can be answered by checking on-line forums like this one - a friend of mine and her 12yr old Son nearly moved to Spain last year and she spent a considerable amount of time researching schools - the best was in Orihuela
I looked at property in the Canaries 3yrs ago but prices were very expensive!
I bought in Torrevieja last year and love it - (£57k for 2 bed villa) all amenities are within walking distance and I can stroll to the Marina in 15-20mns - prices are now creeping up - on average 5% each year.......so don't delay there are still some bargains to be had!
I used Alegria Agents in Torrevieja - they have English Reps that will collect you from the airport and let you view 3-4 properties per day - very
professional
Good Luck

Thank you 20 Kiki this is our issue with the Tenerife even renting is nearly double and if you don't then get work it isn't going to work out . We are lucky really as we are going to pay upfront For 12mths but don't want live somewhere we couldn't after the 12mths if you get what I mean .🌝 I will take a look at that agents thanks . What is the job situation like over there ? At the moment I don't work and my partner works for an estate agents doing all their general repair in their rented properties.. as for schools I've heard there is lots of good ones over there will have a look at the one you have mentioned it's hard when your looking at pics . Thank you so much for replying you have give me lots to look Into. X

I wonder if your friend can remember which school/s specifically in Orihuela was the best one/s. I've been doing some research also and I'm thinking the El Limonar VillaMartin but would love to hear other people's opinions and advice.

We currently live in Lanzarote and are thinking of making the move to the mainland as we have two children (ages 17 & 14) and feel there will be more opportunities for them in Spain. Most British children seem to move off the island when the have finished their education as there is not much here for them, apart from tourism. Tenerife is larger than Lanzarote and certainly has more facilities, shops etc but if it's anything like Lanzarote then the house rentals will be in very short supply and if you are fortunate enough to find one then it will be incredibly expensive. To buy also is very expensive.
Not sure if I've been of any help but I wish you all the best with your decision making.

Soz my friends on hols
My Holiday bolthole is in Toretta Florida which is a really nice area with the Haberneras, Carrefour, Cinema/Bowling, Lidl, Burger King, Water Park, Friday Market, Police & Fire Station etc all within walking distance - no teenage hooligans and lots of choice of Restaurants, Bars, Cafes - all of which advertise regularly for staff - have a look at 03184 Torevieja for local schools
