Have I made a mistake booking a family holiday in Venta Lanuza?

Hi I have booke a 10 day holiday from August 25th with my 2 grown up children 21 and 18 and their partners.
I hadnt realised it was so remote. We are hiring a car and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions of anywhwere to travel out to?
I know we are not that far from Benidorm, which although we have never visited doesnt seem our thing if it really is tacky and blackpool like?? Obviously i have no knowledge other than what i have heard so if anyone can suggest some nicer place to go pub or entertainment wise?? please let me know..
Alicante..does any one have any suggestions? or anything or anywhere else? i have lookd into things such as the downnhill bike ride and the jeep safari??
