Hi all

has any UK resident who has a property in Spain obtained an EU pet passport for bringing their dog from the UK thru France and into Spain and back again? At the moment we have to get an AHC (animal health cdrtificate) each time we travel with our small dog at a cost of around £145 each visit (SE England vet prices!).

Someone advised about getting an EU pet passport that lasts the lifetime of the animal but I don't know how you get this or what the cost involved is? We are next over with our dog on the 1st Sept and before we return to the UK we usually use Eduardos's vet near Villamartin.

Many thanks for any advice / info given.

Yes it is possible, just pop into Eduardos’s early in your visit, discuss with them the timescales and costs, job done.

They changed our uk pet passports to Spanish ones a couple of years ago, very easy, didn’t cost very much, can’t remember how much but a lot cheaper then getting the AHC every trip, and Spain is now in line with the UK on the frequency of the rabies boosters, every 3 years.

Eduardos also complete our yearly checks and vaccinations for both dogs, also a lot cheaper than the UK.

Hope this helps.

Our Vet charges €120 to issue EU passports.  One of our dogs has a UK passport so will need to change that, our Spanish dog needs one!!

Hi, we saw Eduardos in July, our dog had to have a Rabies vaccine in spain and she was issued a European passport which lasts a year, she will then need another rabies vaccination and this will update her passport to last 3 years, cost was approx €45, a lot cheaper than the health certificate in the UK,  and means you can be more spontaneous with travel , hope this helps
