Bus info please

Hello, my husband and I (not HRH, I assure you) will hopefully be arriving on 4th Sept (or thereabouts, thank you Ryanair) for a week, and will be celebrating our (1st) wedding anniversary on Sat. I have booked us into a b&b in Alicante for a night of wining and dining (and something involving Paper, I think?) Anyway, getting to the point.... I want to get to Alicante by bus, and back on Sunday. Can we go directly from La Zenia via Torrevieja or do we need to change buses? I recall coming to Cabo Ruig in Feb on a Sunday, but the driver made us get off in Torrevieja and we had to get picked up there? Any help is greatly appreciated
