Hi, I am new to this site which looks extremely useful. My husband and I are due to retire soon. We live in the UK and have a holiday home in Villamartin. I have looked at various info online about obtaining non lucrative visas with a view to permanently relocating in time but, as neither of us are computer savvy I wondered if anyone can recommend an organisation who can help us through the process? We are coming out to Villamartin at the weekend for a few days so could meet up with anyone who has been successful! Thanks in advance....

Hi,

Your initial application for the non lucrative visa must be made by yourself as an application involving a 3rd party won't be acceptable. Some might suggest certain companies to help but they can't submit your application and could prove expensive. You need to contact the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh. You will need to prove that you have the required income and healthcare. The income requirements for a couple would be around €34,000 per annum and as pensioners you could get your healthcare through the S1 healthcare scheme which is paid for by the UK government.

The information tebo53 has noted in their response is correct. Applications for a NLV must be made by a UK applicant to a Spanish Consulate in the UK. The following link will provide more detailed information:

You most definitely need good advice especially if you have a home in England because if you sell it after becoming a resident of Spain you have to pay tax on the profits made to the Spanish Government which I believe to be 29%.
