I have walked the Camino from St John Pied De Port in France to Santiago de Compostela every year since 2013 mostly on Camino Frances, has anyone walked from Alicante to Santiago.

My dream is to walk the Camino and I wanted to do it before brexit but the pandemic hit. I hope to do it 1 day. How long is the pilgrimage and how much budget do you need if you are frugal in terms of accommodation and food ?

Sorry I didn't answer your specific question but i was so impressed by your achievements and your commitment I had to answer you.

Thanks for your time,

Buzzby.

The Camino frances from sjpp to Santiago is over 800 kms takes about 32 days approx.

You cross the pyrenees into Spain then on through  Basque country, onto rijoca, then onto the meseta and Leon until you reach Galicia and Santiago.

Best thing about Camino is comradeship and life long friends you meet along way of all nationalities. You will never forget your time when you come back it takes a while to assess what you got out of it .

You can stay in alburges for around 10 euro a night, breakfast along way for 5 euros "cafe con leche and cake", Pilgrims get a special meal at stage stop from 10 euro a three course meal about 30 euros a day should be enough.

My advice is go with the flow it's for all ages.

God bless you for that that was very useful and generous of you. I really want to do the pilgrimage with my best friend however I might just go it alone if I have to.

When is the best time to go ? Not too hot not too cold haha that is a silly question I guess ?

Thanks again. Stay safe. I am certain my life will change forever after the struggle and the joys of pilgrimage !

A lot of pilgrims go May to June, Galicia can be wet and misty any time of year but probably the most beautiful, the meseta is long and flat not to be missed.

Discover the real Spain slowly and at your pace.

Special places along the Camino Frances are Pyrenees, Pamplona, Logroño, Burgos, León, Navarra, Galicia and Santiago de Compostela, Finisterre  and many others.
