We are travelling from NE Uk in December and driving down to Orihuela Costa.

Have driven this journey a few times over the years as we lived in Las Minosas for over 6yrs.

Have not driven this time of year though and would appreciate any recommendations for B&B in France & Spain to break the journey.

Need to be dog friendly (one well-behaved Bedlington)

Regards

Paul

Hi we drive twice a year, it very much depends on where in the uk are coming from.

We spend the summer in our house in Northumberland so have a longer  drive than most

Going south we stay in Rouen and Pamplona

Going north a lovely chateau near Bordeaux then overnight near Gatwick

Roads are no problem even after snow or ice they are cleared very quickly

We travel with our dog and have no problem finding big friendly Airbnb or hotels

Regards

Robin

Cheers Robin

We are actually travelling from the North East ourselves, so journey will be similar.

Out of interest, do you use the Ferry or Tunnel?

Will check out the areas you suggested re B&B

We use Brittany ferries if we can get a pet friendly cabin, not easy. The only crossing worthwhile is the Sunday (22.30 ) ferry gets to Bilbao 0700 Tuesday so no overnight hotel needed. We come north by ferry when we can get a pet cabin, but need a hotel usually in Burgos.

Cheers

We do the same drive as Robin. However we do not overnight. We do it one go and share the driving with the wife takes about 28hrs from the NW England. Only in the summer though. We were considering doing it this Xmas and new year.. However after a cold new year we noe close up late November and then come back Feb half term and give the colder months a miss

Hello

I've driven over with 3 dogs via the eurotunnel. Cheap and fast, lovely for the dogs. Then stop over by Bordeaux. Do the Spanish section in one go. Takes about 16 hours actual driving time. The Spanish roads are clearer and no problem! Rouen and Bordeaux get very busy. Travelled over Easter, no problem. Next time will be  Christmas.

could never get a pet friendly cabin on the ferry!
