I am retired and receiving a pension in Uk. I am diabetic and have moved to Villamartin permanently. After reading the forum on medical care I am utterly confused as there are so many conflicting answers. Can anyone help with a suggestion of which route i should take.

The first thing you must do is ring DWP at Newcastle, give them your NI number, and ask if they'll issue you with an S1 form.

Once you've got that, go to the nearest INSS (Social Security) office and they should issue you with a SIP number. Take that to the doctor you want to register with and they should be able to issue you with a plastic SIP card.

I don't know your area, but I'd guess the INSS office on Calle Urbano Arreguel in Torrevieja may be the one you want.

I don't know what INSS need these days in the way of supporting paperwork, so hopefully someone else will tell you, but take your passport and NIE at least.

Thanks Jim, the most clear and best info so far. I live in Villamartin. Should I take a interpreter with me?

I'd say so - it will be much less stressful with an interpreter. But first get the S1 from Newcastle.
