We are looking into the possibility of moving to Spain, but my wife has some reservations. She has a disease called Schloderma and is regularly monitored for it in the UK, via quarterly blood tests and an annual check. She is concerned that friends have told her the Torrevieja hospital only has one Rheumatologist Doctor and the general attention has deteriorated. I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience of dealing with the Rheumatology department in the hospital? TIA.

Hi

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but if you have a problem getting the annual checkup perhaps you could resort to booking a private appointment at https://www.quironsalud.es/torrevieja/es/cartera-servicios

I had cause to go there a few months ago and was seen within the hour. It was money well spent!

Cheers

I am glad you had such a positive experience at Quiron. It is the complete opposite to our experience a couple of years back when my wife needed to seek help. To cut a long story short, she was charged for tests that were completely unnecessary and came away with the distinct I impression it was a money maximising operation. My Mother had a similar experience a couple of years before that.

However, I was recently looking at another private hospital in Murcia, that may be worth a try, if necessary. So thanks for the idea.
