Hi having recently purchased a property I'm slightly confused when I get my electricity bill. I've spent very little time at my house (only 11 days in three months) but I think my electricity bills are quite high. The biggest chunk seems to be "capacity invoist"??

My bill for last month was €34 and I only spent six days there. Can anyone explain what the capacity invoist is? Please and does the bill sound correct?. I'm on a smart meter and the usage does tally up to when I was in the property.

Thanks

I'm unsure what that phrase means but you pay a daily standing charge even if you're not using power.

When empty during the 1st lock down we were paying between €16 and €18 per month when no power was being used.

The charges will depend on the tarrif you're on.

The capacity is the amount of power you can draw at any instant (sometimes called the "potencia").

We only have 3.4kw, and our (most recent) capacity charge was Eu 13.39. Add in meter rental, electricity tax and IVA, that comes to around Eu 19.

So, if you spent time in your home (and, especially if you have a capacity of >3.4kw), your bill isn't out of whack.

That's great yes it's 5.5kw capacity so that's where the chunk of the money is. The usage was only 4€. Thanks for clarification on this cheers
