Hi,

My gas supply is by IBERDROLA, and I additionally pay 8,92 euro per month for a gas maintenance pack, which I presume covers any emergencies, problems, and servicing. I rang them from the UK wanting to remove this from my contract, but was told I cannot do this as by law I have to have a yearly service. I could arrange for another company to do it, but it still needs doing yearly. I live in the UK so it’s difficult to arrange servicing, but the lady at IBERDROLA says the service is done externally to the property, so do not require entry (I only have a gas water heater anyway, and gas hob). Can anyone say if this is correct? ie, my yearly “service” is done remotely as it were, and I am therefore abiding by legal requirements. I never receive any paperwork to say it’s been done. Thanks.

I too get my gas from Iberdrola and on my last visit in September got a card through the door to say I should arrange a 5 year service of my equipment (only a water boiler) and a name and local number to call.  I called and got a Spanish answering service, left a message, no response.   I called the central number and got a very helpful lady who spoke English who told me someone would contact me.  Nobody called.  I rang her again and went through the same process, Nobody called.  I then got another card through the door to say the first person mentioned had called again.  Not helpful.

I was a bit panicky because in very small letters on the card it said that the service was mandatory and I could be cut off if I did not have one.   Others in my urb. seem to have had the service without any problem.  Perhaps I am just unlucky.
