Hi Mags,

You need to have residency before you can swap your driving license, although I wonder whether anyone has applied to do the swap between receiving EX-20 approval, but before submitting their EX-23?

The British Consulate has advised that Spain's DGT will be issuing a form that allows UK citizens to submit their intention to exchange their UK licence for Spanish, even if they're unable to do so before the end of the year.  The form must be submitted before 25 (not 31) December 2020; however, we're still waiting for the DGT to issue the form.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim ,

That would be interesting to know, I hope it’s not too long before the form is available online re licence swap. Can I also ask the forum if anyone was able to find an appointment for Fingerprinting  onliover the weekend, I don’t want to spend my Saturday/Sunday trying hundreds of times if there are no appointments released then ?

Thank you.

Does anyone know the amount of pension you are required to be receiving each month to enable you to apply for residency? Also are savings taken into account if your pension doesn't meet the requirements?

Hi Jackie,

The financial requirements for residency applications BEFORE 31 December 2020 are either €5,542 lump sum OR €463 per month, credited in a Spanish bank account for 3 months.  So if your monthly income is less than €463, but you have savings of at least €5,542, the latter would make you eligible.

We've also been told that the authorities are looking at applicants' 'affordability', so other factors, such as owning property outright, will help.  Being eligible for healthcare via the S1 scheme (UK State pensioners and/or those with an 'exportable benefit') will also be a positive; those not eligible for an S1 will have to show that they can afford the cost of private health insurance instead.

From 1 January, without the benefit of a Brexit deal, UK citizens will be applying as TCNs (Third Country Nationals) and the financial requirements are likely to rise to €28,000 lump sum or €2,100 per month.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi.

Just to let you know we've had confirmation that our applications (resolution state) are in process so we are still waiting for 'date of resolution' through the link that you sent me, how long that will take I don't know but thanks for the link.

Will let you know when we get more info.

Cheers

I have an appointment for my Tie and am trying to get all the necessary documents together. I understand I need the original green residence form plus a copy. I cannot find my original document and only have a copy. I was told I can get a duplicate from the Policia Nacional but they told me I can no longer get one. Does anybody know how to obtain a form acceptable for my Tie application?
