Hi there. I’ve had endless problems with my branch at Oficina 6012 Ctra. Torrev.Cartag.Km.8,5-loc Com. Cabo R, 03189 Orihuela (Alicante). Registered letters to them go unanswered  & they never answer the phone.

Has anybody closed their CaixaBank/Bankia account by visiting the branch? What did you have to bring to prove yourself? Did you have to make an appointment or just walk in? Any hassle or fairly straightforward?

Thanks for any tips or advice.

To close an account, the beneficiary (-ies) must show up in person with adequate poof of identity.

Thank Killjoy.
Have you had personal experience of closing an account at Bankia/CaixaBank?

Caixabank is terrible now since they took over Bankia last year but managed to close my account there by going to the branch, signing some paperwork and handing in my debit card! Best thing I ever did and would advise anyone with a Caixabank account who is having problems or outragious charges to do the same as they do NOT listen, respond or resolve matters!  Have now opened an account with Wise and so far so good!

To be fair, I think many  of the difficulties may be experienced by ex Bankia clients. We have always had an account with Caixa with no problems. It may help that our local branch is in a small inland town, where staff are very helpful and providing you turn up at the appropriate times, rarely have to wait long to be seen. Otherwise appointments can be made online.
