Hi Steve, if you're hoping it's a non-starter, then I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed! Just a couple of points:
If the lights are going to replace existing lights, in the same location, then there's no problem.
If you want them in a different position to existing lights, then it all depends on what sort of ceilings you've got.
If you've got a suspended ceiling, with plaster ceiling tiles, then you can lift tiles as needed to re-route cables. It's a bit of a faff, but I've done it several times.
If however it's a concrete ceiling, then you'd have to run the wiring on the surface in small trunking, which your wife might think would look unsightly. Chopping out, or angle-grinding, to bury the cable trunking would make an almighty mess.
Hi Jim.
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it was a non starter. But there you go. We are coming over on the 9h September to look at houses so I do t know the situation with ceilings yet. Thanks for the help.

There are some lovely lighting shops in Spain, you will be spoilt for choice.

Hi Steve, Spain is notorious for 'iffy' Electrical installations, especially in pre 2000 built properties .
If you have yet to buy a property ask the Vendors for an Electrical Test and Inspection Certificate, or in Spanish parlance a boletin.
Voltage is comparable with supplies in other European countries including the UK so any light fittings brought with you can be fitted in your Spanish property,
One word of advice would be to let you be aware that baynot fitting lamps ( bulbs) are available, but not 'easily' available in Spain, the standard fitment is E.S. ( screw in type ). It would be wise to check the fitment on your existing light fittings prior to deciding on taking them over to Spain.
Good luck !
