UK Driving Licence post Brexit

Yes you can drive on a UK licence but be prepared to prove you are a genuine visitor if stopped by the police.

In practice the only items which stand as proof are stamped passports or perhaps return travel tickets.

Thanks Darro for the quick reply.  We are slightly complicated as we are from Northern Ireland so we can have both UK and Southern Irish Passports. We are trying to get Irish driving licences so that we can just exchange them for Spanish ones, but the Irish Gov or at least that section of the Gov are moving very slowly, we just want to make sure we are ok with the law until we get things sorted...unless that is, the Spanish Gov extend that grace period into 2022....Have you heard anything that may suggest another extension?

My understanding is that you need an International Driving Permit in addition to your UK licence, but that's very easy to obtain from your local Post Office.

We have just done exactly what you are proposing to do and for the same reason.  Found a dealer in a town near our holiday home who also offers long term storage.  A friend has offered to bring our car to the airport on arrival and return it to storage when we leave.  In Spain you insure the car, not the driver, so almost anyone can drive it.
